    Release notes: 4.0.0

Have you noticed? We've revamped our release versioning to align with our new approach to rollouts!

We're moving away from automatic monthly releases. Instead, we'll have regular releases based on delivered functionalities. Major releases will highlight high-impact changes, such as the addition of significant features. Minor releases will focus on functionality improvements, while corrective releases will address bug fixes.

Introducing version 4.0.0, featuring the integration of SSO as the authentication protocol, highly improved data compression, and other enhancements (see details below).

    Release overview

We're thrilled to unveil our latest release which focuses on streamlined interactions for enhanced efficiency.

    • Authentication Made Effortless: With our enhanced Single Sign-On (SSO) feature, gaining access to Zetaly is as simple as a click. This release introduces SSO using SAMLv2 protocol, in addition to the existing LDAP mechanism, as a popular authentication mechanism. Please note that SSO authentication is available only on LINUX environment.
    • Deeper Data Understanding: In this release, we've expanded the horizon of your data comprehension. Unlock deeper insights into SMF30 and SMF71 datasets with the inclusion of additional fields, enhancing your ability to fully leverage and exploit the wealth of data available.
    • Enhance your experience of reading STCK data within Zetaly Self Service Collector (ZUP), as it now seamlessly supports the transformation of milliseconds into readable and comprehensive dates.
    • Simplify your data management and optimize storage space with the migration of legacy Data Explorer functionalities into Zetaly Streaming Agent. The transition ensures a seamless experience, with features like aggregation, historization, and compression now seamlessly integrated into Zetaly Load Views and History Aggregation.

    Users Management (ZHB)

    SSO*

Single Sign-On (SSO) is an authentication solution that simplifies access to multiple applications or services by allowing users to log in with a single set of credentials. Instead of individually logging into each service, SSO provides a seamless user experience by eliminating the need for multiple sets of credentials.

Administrators can centrally manage permissions and access, enhancing security and simplifying maintenance.

User creation and management via Single Sign-On (SSO) can be made more efficient by utilizing specific additional features. One such feature is the group mapping option, which can be found within the SSO setup form (further details can be found in the documentation provided below). Another feature to consider is the automatic provisioning functionality, also accessible within the SSO setup form. This feature guarantees seamless synchronization of user movements, such as changes, arrivals or deletions within your organization.

Go to the settings (cog icon) > SSO to start configure this new option ! Full description, help and detail: SSO Configuration

    * Linux only

    Connectors Management (ZSA)

    SMF30 new fields

3 new fields are integrated for SMF30 collection and aggregation to provide more information about CPU Time: SMF30ISB, SMF30ICU and SMF30HPT

    • You will find the full description of these fields in the related articles SMF 30

    SMF71 new fields

As new fields have been introduced in the SMF71 for z/OS 3.1, we have also incorporated them to enable a more comprehensive analysis. This expansion includes 43 additional fields. For detailed information, please refer to the dedicated article (SMF 71 Memory size)

Enhancement in Load Views: Improved Aggregation

    • Minimize connector downtime by introducing the swap option during the creation or configuration of a load view. (For details, refer to the updated documentation at Load Views: Aggregate data).
      • This feature comes into play after the services are stopped, swapping the importation tables on the database (xxxData < -- > xxxData1).
      • Subsequently, the services restart, resuming data importation (xxxData) while the Load Views process is based on the data present in the importation tables (xxxData1).
      • Following this, it clears the importation tables (xxxData1) since the data has already been loaded into the history tables.
    • Introduce a compression level for your aggregated data: With the new history aggregation function, you can now define a broader compression periodicity compared to the one specified in Load Views. This results in improved data management efficiency and space savings. (For details, please refer to the related article History Aggregation)
    • Fine-tune the configuration of your aggregations according to your specific needs: Instead of aggregating all fields in your dataset, you can now selectively add relevant fields for aggregation in the load views (loader fields) and in your history aggregation (compress fields). For detailed information, consult the related article Load Views: Aggregate data.

    STCK Transformation (ZUP)

For any SMF utilizing STCK data, you have the option to configure its transformation from a cumulative count of milliseconds since January 1st, 1900, into the corresponding date, enhancing its readability.

To set up this transformation, do it when creating a new parser (Streaming Agent > Manage Parsers section).

    CSV Export (ZDE)

Following a data request in the Data Explorer section, you now have the capability to export the query results as a CSV file. This allows you to utilize the requested data in accordance with your specific requirements.

For additional details on ZDE, please consult the related article ZDE.

    What’s improved

New in the users list: search bar

To facilitate user management, particularly in scenarios with a substantial user count, you can now conduct searches using the search bar positioned at the top of the user list table.

Tips: The search functionality extends to any field within the table, allowing you to use it as a filter. For instance, you can refine your view to display only users with specific roles or those associated with particular groups.

ZSA / Loadviews: more transparency in the processing

You now have the ability to monitor the progress of the aggregation process by viewing the number of tasks, either through the logs or displayed on the corresponding card.

    Revamp linux installer

The Linux installer has been completely revamped. Numerous bugs have been corrected and more detailed logs are now available.

    What’s fixed

    • Revision of the ZSA and ZDE APIs documentation
    • Various time fields where selectable even if there was no data in it. From now on some of the fields without any data are disabled and don't allow selection or duplication (ZCC, ZRP).
    • Fix ZSA rare unauthorized error

    Various option have been restored

    • Filter Application for the "cicstransactions" Table and Option to Toggle it On/Off for "Load Transactions Executions
    • Selection Options for "Load Jobs Executions" and "Load Step Information"

    Known Issues

We've identified some issues that will be addressed in the upcoming minor release (4.1.0) scheduled for the coming weeks.

    • The first issue pertains to the Cost Control (ZCC) service, specifically affecting users with a TFP configuration (Cost Control > Contractual structure configuration for IBM software > TFP Enterprise Consumption). The yearly display format has been altered and is now "in-line". In the next minor release, we will revert to the previous display format: one line per year.
    • The second issue revolves around the dashboard sharing functionality. Until the next minor release, the sole method for authorized users to share a dashboard is to navigate to "Custom," click on the action icon, and select "Share."

    • The third issue concerns user management. If a user has the username "admin", they will be unable to assign or remove Zetay modules. As a solution, it's recommended to avoid using the username "admin" for now.
