    Article summary

ZRP lets you select two simulations and have their graphs and syntheses displayed side-by-side for comparison purposes.

    Note:
Trying to compare a new, unrun simulation displays an empty space. To have a meaningful comparison, both simulations must have been run at least once.

    Comparing Simulations

    To compare two simulations:

    1. Expand the project containing the simulations that you want to compare.
    2. Expand the first simulation, and select any CPC within the simulation.
      Note:
To compare graphs between two simulations, you must select any CPC within the first simulation. Doing so generates the comparison graphs for all CPCs.
If you do not select any CPC within the first simulation, only the Synthesis board tab will contain the comparison data.
    3. Click the dotted menu on the first simulation and select Compare With.
      Note:
If the project only contains one simulation, the Compare With menu item is greyed out.
    4. From the Select comparisons dialog box that appears, select the second simulation that you want to compare with the first simulation.
    5. Click Save.
The time it takes to render the comparison varies according to the simulation projection period and whether report classes were retrieved during the SMF import that is used for the project.
Once the comparison is complete, the first simulation's Chart and Synthesis board tabs contain the second simulation's data.

    Viewing Comparison Graphs

To view the comparison graphs, expand and drill down to any CPC, LPAR or Product within the first simulation, then click the Chart tab.

The graphs corresponding to the node item you selected (i.e. CPC, LPAR or Product) appear in the Chart tab for both the first and second simulations.

Graphs associated with the first simulation have solid lines, while graphs associated with the second simulation have dotted lines.

By default all the graphs are visible. You can toggle between showing and hiding a graph by clicking on the graph's title within the graph legend area. Hidden graphs have greyed out titles, while visible graphs have colored titles.

    Viewing Comparison Syntheses

To view the comparison syntheses, expand and drill down to any CPC, LPAR or Product within the first simulation, then click the Synthesis board tab.

For the syntheses, the tables are displayed on top of each other for the CPCs, LPARs and Products as well as the simulation synthesis.
